Matt and Lisa - an evening of indulgence!

Some people like to relax in a spa (so do I!), others like to go away on a short break (so do I!) and some like to spend the day at Alton Towers (and yes again so do I). However last week I decided I was going to treat myself to a day of indulgence.... on my business and take time out to take my photography to the next level....so I called the lovely Steve Gerrard and booked a One2One workshop!

It felt very indulgent as the day was geared to my needs and requests I really wanted to understand the detail in using artificial light in a variety of ways, off camera, video light and of course the fabulous techniques of light painting.....I was not disappointed!

After Steve and I had spent hours discussing shots, techniques and how he runs his business, Matt and Lisa joined us so I could go out, try everything out and play with Steve very much there to discuss and hold my hand a little (metaphorically speaking!)...We had a blast and Matt and Lisa were just the perfect couple for this shoot, plenty of patience and willingness to try it all! Whilst a fair bit of the start of the shoot involved me holding lights and talking through it all...so much got cemented in my head. I got to then try it all myself and I am now going to be doing a great deal more of this kind of work! The light painting was soooooo much fun with Steve and I moving like Jedi around Lisa and Matt with torches and lights, I shall be doing this a great deal more! 

The last shot is my favourite as we finally managed to time the traffic lights and catch a bus going by! Fabulous effect...but shhhhh don't tell anyone!

Nell and Ben - Pre- Wedding Shoot in Lichfield

These two are so very different and you can see how they work together so well within seconds of meeting them. Nell is a nurse and Ben is a fireman (hoping for uniforms!!)  and I am so very much looking for to their wedding in November at Patshull Hall. For their pre-wedding shoot they decided to come to Lichfield for a few hours and we took a wander and got some fabulous images. I love the light around the Cathedral and Beacon Park is fabulous now, so off we went.

These two relaxed very quickly as you will see and look so very much in love (awwww!). Here are some of my faves from the shoot. Roll on November as Nell,  I am sure you will agree is going to be such a stunning bride!

Yet again I hit the jackpot with another fabulous couple...

Laura and Graham - Pre-wedding shoot at Birmingham University

Laura and Graham are adorable and I really enjoyed my time with them on our pre-wedding shoot. Laura and Graham wanted to do their pre-wedding shoot at Birmingham University as that was where they met, perfect I thought and I have to say I loved the location, fab backdrops and a lovely atmosphere! We were also blessed with fabulous weather. Very much looking forward to their wedding at the scrumptious Botanical Gardens.....oooodles of gorgeousness for this lovely couple.

Alison and I met at The National Wedding Show at The NEC earlier this year and we had a laugh immediately and got on like a house on fire, so I was delighted when they decided to book me to photograph their wedding.

Richard is a farmer and they live on their farm in Towcester, it is simply gorgeous there and I was like a kid in a sweetie shop with all the surroundings we had to play with. Richard is simply the nicest bloke you could ever meet and this couple are very much in love. They each have a fabulous sense of humour and to say they enjoy a good party seems to be an understatement for this very sociable couple. From the stories I have heard their wedding is going to be a blast!

They are to be married in the local chapel and then back to the farm where the celebrating will commence. Richard and I have even discussed where the cherry picker is going to go that I can use to take their group shot of just over 200 guests!!  For those who know me you know I cannot wait to be hanging in the air to take that shot..

Paul and Ester - pre-wedding shoot

Paul and Ester have been together for 8 years and Paul popped the question in a very romantic way in September last year, whilst in Mauritius on holiday (we love a good romantic proposal!) They got themselves into gear pretty quickly and are actually getting married next Saturday - who says you can't get it all done in less than 6 months!  

Last week you may remember we had fabulous weather on Thursday morning (no doubt it will be etched in your minds as it is so rare these days!) and Paul and Ester came up to my new offices in Lichfield for their pre-wedding shoot.

We decided to pop round the corner to the fabulous Lichfield Cathedral for the majority of the shoot. It is simply gorgeous there, I love the textures and colours that make such a wonderful backdrop for a shoot like this.

Paul and Ester are getting married at The Marston Farm Hotel in Sutton Coldfield and I am delighted to be photographing this fabulous couple on their special day. Ester is clearly going to be a stunning bride!
